EC Delegation launches Short Film Competition on Intercultural Dialogue

As part of its activities on the European Year of Intercultural Dialogue 2008, the Delegation of the European Commission to Turkey has launched a short film competition on the topic of intercultural dialogue. The competition is open to all amateurs and professionals, who are invited to submit a short film by 1st May 2008.
 
“Intercultural Dialogue is a very broad topic ranging from equality and social justice to respect for diverse cultures and human rights”, stated Ambassador Marc Pierini, Head of the Delegation of the European Commission to Turkey. “The Intercultural Dialogue Short Film Competition will give Turkish novice as well as experienced filmmakers the chance to show us their perception of this concept,” said the Ambassador.
 
The Intercultural Dialogue Short Film Competition is open to short films of all genres of up to 10 minutes, shot after 1st January 2006. There is no restriction for the entry of films which have participated in previous competitions, festivals or similar events, or which have previously received an award.
 
The winner of the competition will win a trip to the Oberhausen International Short Film Festival in Germany and a Shadow Edius DVX Desktop Editing System. The first runner-up will be awarded a trip to the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival in France and an Edius Neo Pro Notebook Editing System. The second runner-up will win a trip to the Rotterdam International Film Festival in the Netherlands and an Edius Neo Notebook Editing System.
 
The competition comes as a result of a close partnership with Ankara University’s Communication Faculty as well as its Centre for European Studies. In addition, the competition is supported by Radio Mydonose. 
 
The last day to join the competition is 1st May 2008. Short listed films will be screened on 12 - 13 May 2008 at Ankara University. The winners will be announced at the award ceremony on 15th May 2008.
