Announcement on 2010 People to People (P2P) Programme
Within the framework of Turkey’s negotiation process for full membership to the EU, P2P, a programme funded by the European Union (EU), aims to support the role of Turkey’s civil society organisations at regional, national and European levels; by providing the possibility to visit, learn and create networks with EU institutions, EU relevant umbrella NGOs with a view of familiarisation with the EU policies, programmes, initiatives and best practices; and to facilitate a better mutual understanding, in the perspective of future enlargement and partnership building.
Context of the programme
The P2P Programme is funded by the EU and DG Enlargement with the assistance of the European Union Delegations in the beneficiary countries. It is entitled to candidate countries (Turkey, Croatia and the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia) and potential candidates (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo (UNSCR 1244), Montenegro and Serbia).
The P2P Programme targets mainly non-governmental organisations, as well as trade unions and employers' organisations (social partners), professional associations, charities, churches and religious communities, etc.
Two types of activities are supported:
1) Multi-country study tours, where 3-5 representatives per beneficiary country are invited.
In this case the participants have the similar professional background though come from different countries. The invited participants obtain a possibility to get more familiar with the EU affairs and to discuss concrete EU-related issues.
The study tours help to build up the regional and European dialogue and enhance cross border networks. The biggest share of them takes place in Brussels and includes visits to the EU institutions.
2) Single country event, for the exclusive benefit of one country.
These events are organised either in Brussels or in a beneficiary country and bring together 30-50 participants from the particular country.
|
Eligibility criteria of the candidates
- being a member of an NGO;
- sufficient English is pre-requisite for Multi-country study tours, optional for Single country event since interpretation will be provided.
