EU Enlargement Commissioner Olli Rehn said the opening of two more chapters is 'a new step forward in the adhesion talks.' In April this year the EU and Turkey began talks on 'enterprise and industry policy,' the second chapter opened after 'science and research' opened and provisionally closed in June 2006.
