Tarsus to host Intercultural Dialogue Event as part of the Year of St. Paul

Following Vatican’s announcement of the period between June 29, 2008 and June 29, 2009 as the “Year of St. Paul”, Christians all around the world are now traveling to Tarsus, the hometown of St. Paul, for pilgrimage. During the 7000 years of the history of Tarsus, the city has been a centre for the three main religions and is also known for the Eshab-ı Keyf Cave, the Tombs of Daniel and Bilal-i Habeş, Foundations of St. Paul’s House as well as the “holly well”.

Within the framework of the European Year of Intercultural Dialogue; the EU Information Relay in Mersin, the Governorship of Mersin, Tarsus Office of District, Tarsus Municipality, Mersin Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Tarsus Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Mersin Tourism Platform are organising a special programme with the support of the Bishop’s office for the Anatolian region.
