Eurobarometer about attitudes of European citizens towards environment published
Eurobarometer's survey measuring the opinions, attitudes and behaviour of Europeans towards the environment carried out by the Environment Directorate-General has been published. Nearly 27,000 respondents in the 27 Member States of the European Union were interviewed at their homes in their national languages.
Based on the results of this Eurobarometer survey on the environment, European citizens attach great value to the environment and are increasingly aware of the role that the environment plays in their lives. 96% of Europeans say that protecting the environment is important for them personally.
The results show that two-thirds of European citizens prefer decisions to be made jointly within the EU when it comes to protecting the environment and 86% of Europeans see themselves as individuals with a role to play in protecting the environment in their countries.
