Turkey: Antalya hosts the European Festivals Association Meeting
The General Assembly and Conference of the European Festivals Association (EFA) will take place in Turkey's Mediterranean province of Antalya from 24 to 27 April. The theme of this year's conference will be "Festivals in Globalizing World-Challenges of International & Cultural Cooperation beyond European Borders."
150 delegates will participate in the meeting at the Sheraton Hotel, whereas executives from the conference host, the Aspendos International Opera & Ballet Festival, Istanbul International Music Festival, International Ankara Music Festival, International Izmir Festival and Mersin International Music Festival will represent Turkey in the meeting. Delegates will sign the Arts Festivals’ Declaration on Intercultural Dialogue on 25 April, and hold a press conference. After the meeting, Antalya State Symphony Orchestra will give a concert at the Atatürk Culture Centre. Pianist Leonel Morales will take stage in the concert to be conducted by Emin Guven Yaslicam. EFA delegates will enjoy more artistic highlights at the Antalya Opera House and tour Antalya's historical and cultural attractions including Archaeology Museum, Kaleici, Side and Aspendos ancient theatre.
The aim of EFA is to promote the significance of festivals and their important role in the international cultural cooperation. Therefore, the EFA seeks primarily to coordinate the efforts of its members, facilitate cooperation and co-production, set common policy, promote pluridisciplinary tendencies, underline the state of art in society, act prominently in the cultural debate.
