Young people illustrate ‘‘Europe of 2057’’ through pictures and music

As a part of the ‘‘Cultural Communication: Active European Citizenship through Arts and Music’’ project supported by the Delegation of the European Commission to Turkey, young people from Turkey, Germany and Greece have illustrated their opinions about the “Europe of 2057’’ through art and music. The project aims to stimulate friendship, solidarity and interest in the arts through the universally appealing nature of music and art. The project is jointly run by the “Pera Fine Arts Alumni Cultural Association” from Turkey, ESTA Bildungswerk GmbH from Germany and Mewcat from Greece.  

The best 15 works of art in the project competition will be exhibited in Istanbul and Rize- Çamlıhemşin in Turkey; Duisburg in Germany; and Milos Island in Greece. The first exhibition in Turkey will open at the Pera Art Gallery on Monday 4 August 2008, at 17:30 hrs with cocktails. Award winning young artists from Greece and Germany will attend the exhibition opening.

The award winning competitors from Turkey, Ilgın Çaylak (Ankara), Ozan Sarıboğa (Kayseri), Mehmet Kalfe (Kayseri), Sevgi Tüzel (İzmir) ve Polat Sertbulut (İstanbul) had the opportunity to take part in a cultural exchange with Turkish and German young people living in Germany as a prize-trip,
