France takes over rotating EU Presidency

On 1 July 2008, France took over the rotating presidency of the EU from Slovenia. 

During its six-month term, the main priorities of the French Presidency will be energy and climate change, issues concerning immigration, agriculture and food safety as well as security and defence.
