Winners of the “Trees and Forests of Turkey” Photo Competition announced

İbrahim Peynirci won the competition with his photograph entitled “Trees” taken in Kütahya. The runner-up is Mustafa İpek with his photograph entitled “Peace” taken in Bursa; whilst third place went to Ömer Kılıç and his photograph “Red” taken in Çanakkale.

The jury also awarded 'honourable mentions' to Haluk Sargın for his photograph entitled “Karagöl” taken in Ankara and Yusuf Ziya Karakelle for “Ankara Yenice”, also taken in Ankara. In addition to the jury's selection, there was also an online public voting component of the competition. The overall winner of the public voting period, with 775 votes, is Bekir Höçük with his photograph entitled “Trace”.

The winners will be awarded professional cameras and lenses. The winners will also receive subscriptions to the National Geographic Turkey Magazine.

More than 500 photographs were submitted to the competition. The jury was made up of Işık Aksoy from Bilkent University, Tuğrul Çakar from Başkent University, Mehmet Arslan Güven from Hacettepe University, Kemal Nuraydın from the National Geographic Magazine Turkey and Aylin Vagas from the Delegation of the European Commission to Turkey.
