All European eGovernment stakeholders were invited to an Information Day in Brussels on 11 April 2007 in Brussels. Participants were inspired by the video clip http://212.68.215.195/europa/awards2005_hq.wmv of the 2005 Awards, which attracted 235 submissions from 28 (out of 33) countries.
Those numbers are set to increase as European administrations are intensifying online service delivery. While the eGEP study
http://www.rso.it/egep estimated that Europe in 2005 spent € 11.9 bn yearly on eGovernment €“ which could boost EU25 GDP 166 bn by 2010 - the figures are set to grow. Understandably, the focus is now shifting to reaping the benefits of such investments.
This third eGovernment awards competition is part of the European Commission's work to share best practices. Info day participants got a peek into the new online social networking community in eGovernment, eHealth and eInclusion. That portal is due to be launched with full features on 1 June.
