EUROPEAN UNION
Brussels, 13 July 2012
A 331/12
The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the Commission issued the following statement:
“I am deeply shocked by reports of the ruthless killing of at least 200 men, women and children in the village of Tremseh in the Hama region. The regime's use of heavy weaponry, including artillery and helicopters, which has been confirmed by UN observers, is a blatant violation of its obligations under the Annan plan. I condemn this atrocity in the strongest possible terms.
UN observers must be granted immediate and unhindered access to verify available information on the events in Tremseh. Those responsible need to be identified in order to hold them accountable for their heinous acts. There can be no impunity for the perpetrators of these alleged human rights violations."
