The Delegation of the European Union to Turkey has launched a new Call for Proposals under the European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights (EIDHR), an annual programme aimed at strengthening the role of civil society in promoting human rights and democratic reforms.
The EIDHR is a global programme of the European Union for the protection and promotion of human rights and democracy. Turkey has been benefitting from the programme since 2002. More than 100 large and small projects have been supported addressing issues ranging from freedom of expression to improved access to justice, and from fighting torture and impunity to protecting and respecting cultural diversity. The total budget of the 2012 Call for Proposals is €2 million. The two specific objectives are:
