The deadline to submit your film to Human Rights Short Film Competition has been postponed to 15th of November

2018 EU Human Rights Short Film Competition

The 2018 EU Human Rights Short Film Competition, organised by the EU Delegation to Turkey, invites amateur and professional filmmakers to submit an original short film on a human rights theme, with a particular focus this year on Human Rights Defenders.

The aim of the 2018 EU Human Rights Short Film Competition is to raise awareness of and encourage reflection on human rights issues, as well as celebrate and honour the work and dedication of Human Rights Defenders. The EU Human Rights Short Film Competition gives participants the opportunity to adress human rights issues from a cinematic point of view and offers them a platform for presenting their films.

Amont the 67 films entering the competition. 11 finalist had been pre-selected in the Human Rights Films category and 5 in the Portrait of Human Rights Defenders category.

On 8 December 2018 the winners of the 8th European Union Human Rights Short Films Awards were announced.

First Prize: Oyuncak Bebek (Doll) - directed by Serdal Altun

Second Prize: Kefaret Yağmuru (Salvation Rain) - Veysel Çelik

Third Prize: Şeyleşme (The Reification)- Abdi Cangı

Special Prize for a Human Rights Defender: Vatansız (Stateless) - Gökhan Çetin
