    Organising a networking event for the Erasmus Alumni is a tradition of Austrian Embassy in Ankara.  The most recent one was held on 4th of September 2018 at the Austrian Residence. Gabriel Munuera Vinals, Deputy Head of EU Delegation, participated in the event. The networking event brings together Erasmus Alumni with the aim of establishing a solid network among them and build bridges between cultures.

    The EU Delegation to Turkey, the Embassy of Lithuania and the Turkish General Command of the Gendarmerie (GCG) yesterday launched a new Twinning Project focusing on combatting domestic violence in Turkey by strengthening the Gendarmerie's Women and Children sections and enhancing communication and awareness-raising country-wide. Deputy Head of EU Delegation Gabriel Munuera-Vinals, Ambassador of Lithuania Audrius Brüzga and GCG Colonel Bülent Baykal attended the launch event.

    EU Ambassador Christian Berger  and  Ambassadors of EU member states  and  their families were in Edirne as part of their "EU-Turkey Cultural Dialogue, Cross-Border Cooperation" programme for a visit between 26-29 May 2018. The delegation visited historic sites of the city and was briefed about the history of Edirne. The Ambassadors crossed the Kapıkule border gate and went to Svilengrad. On their programme was a special performance by world-famous jazz bi-national singer Turkish and Bulgarian Yıldız İbrahimova.

    The Head of the EU Delegation to Turkey, Ambassador Christian Berger, participated in the first school opening under the EU's support in Turkey for education infrastructure programme, aiming to provide access for the education of Syrian children, in Nizip refugee camp. MoNE Undersecretary Yusuf Tekin and KfW Member of Board Roland Siller were among the 100 participants in the opening ceremony. Ambassador Berger said in his speech "We are here to open the very first school in Nizip refugee camp, out of a total of 200 schools that will follow across Turkey shortly.

    Head of the EU Delegation to Turkey Ambassador Christian Berger and the ambassadors of the EU member states are exchanging views in the run-up to the parliamentary and presidential elections in Turkey. In this context, the ambassadors met yesterday the presidential candidate of main opposition CHP, Muharrem İnce, at a fast breaking dinner. They heard from İnce his electoral pledges, his campaign and visits across the country. EU ambassadors will continue meeting with the candidates before the elections are held.

    A European Commission delegation from Brussels headed by Maciej Popowski, Deputy Director General for the Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations, accompanied by Myriam Ferran, Director for Strategy and Turkey, Bernard Brunet, Head of Turkey Unit, and Ruud van Enk, Team Leader of the EU Facility for Refugees, visited a school in Ankara last Thursday, 17 May, to see how Syrian children were integrated into the Turkish education system.

    On his trip to Turkey on 7 May, German Minister of State for Europe, MP Michael Roth, visited the EU-funded Migrant Health Center in Altindag, Ankara, together with the German Ambassador to Turkey, Martin Erdmann, and the Head of the EU Delegation to Turkey, Ambassador Christian Berger. The Center, praised by MP Roth as a "great joint effort by [the] EU and Turkish government," is funded under a direct grant to the Turkish Ministry of Health worth €300 million. The project's aim is to improve refugees' access to healthcare in Turkey.

    As part of regular consultations with political parties in Turkey,  on 3rd of May,  the Head of the EU Delegation to Turkey, Ambassador Christian Berger,  and representatives of EU Member States present in Turkey came together with the co-chairs of the second largest opposition party in Turkey the People's Democracy Party (HDP)  Ms Pervin Buldan and Mr Sezai Temelli. The meeting focused on current political developments in the country, in particular the upcoming snap elections for the presidency and the parliament on 24 June.
