The Head of the EU Delegation to Turkey, Ambassador Christian Berger and the accompanying Ambassadors of the EU Member States arrived in Hatay on Saturday for a 4-day visit.
The Head of the EU Delegation to Turkey, Ambassador Christian Berger and the accompanying Ambassadors of the EU Member States arrived in Hatay on Saturday for a 4-day visit. Visit of the EU Ambassadors to Hatay takes place as part of the regular visits organised to different provinces in Turkey twice a year by the EU Delegation.On the first two days of their programme; they visited historical and cultural sites to discover the rich cultural heritage in Hatay and İskenderun.
During the last two days of the visit, starting Monday morning, the EU Ambassadors will follow an official programme. The first event was a press conference with the participation of local, national and EU press. The press conference on the Facility for Refugees in Turkey was chaired by the Head of the EU Delegation to Turkey Ambassador Christian Berger and Ambassador of Germany Martin Erdmann. At the meeting with the Mayor of Hatay Metropolitan Municipality Lütfü Savaş, Ambassadors were briefed on EU investments as well as on the needs for environmental protection and water treatment facilities in the province. The next meeting of the Ambassadors was at the Governorate of Hatay. Following a warm welcome, the Acting Governor of Hatay Nursal Çakıroğlu made a presentation to Ambassadors, who then asked questions to the Acting Governor about the problems in the province.
