    Syria: Statement by the Spokesperson on the shelling of tent settlements in Idlib

    On 6 November, the Syrian regime, supported by Russian airstrikes, bombed tent settlements hosting displaced civilians near the city of Idlib. At least nine people, four of them children, were killed in the attack, and more than 75 were wounded. Moreover, 400 families living in the now damaged settlements, face new displacement. The EU condemns this attack in the strongest terms and offers its deepest condolences to the families of the victims.

    Today, the Russian Federation has launched yet another conscription campaign in the illegally annexed Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol to draft Crimean residents in the Russian Federation Armed Forces. This campaign comes shortly after Russia’s mobilisation announced on 21 September, which included the groundless targeting of Crimean residents.

The Commissioner will also meet Mr Şahap Kavcıoğlu, Governor of the Central Bank. Furthermore, Commissioner McGuinness will meet over dinner with major business organisations.
