Flagship Projects: EU support changing lives

The support under the IPA for social policy – covering the vital fields of education, health, culture, and employment – is extensive, with programmes aimed in particular at the disadvantaged and marginalised in society. Projects included supporting the school attendance of young children and girls, combating child labour, and assisting the social integration of people with disabilities. In addition, there have been projects to fight drug addiction, improve quality control tests for vaccines, and encourage voluntary blood donation. In the field of job creation, programmes were directed at promoting gender equality in the workplace, boosting youth employment, and promoting women entrepreneurship. A cultural heritage development programme for the country’s southeast and one for cultivating relationships between Turkish and EU civil society in art and culture were among the cultural projects that received support.
