Conference on Employment and Skills in the Renewable Energy Sector was held
Ambassador Nikolaus Meyer-Landrut attended the Conference on Employment and Skills in the Renewable Energy Sector, held as part of the EU-funded RE-You Project, organised by South Marmara Development Agency in cooperation with Çanakkale 18 Mart and Balikesir Universities.
Speaking at the conference, Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Türkiye Ambassador Nikolaus Meyer-Landrut stated:
Distinguished Director Generals,
Distinguished Rector, Directors and Presidents,
Ladies and gentlemen,
It is my pleasure to join you at this important Conference on Employment and Skills in the Renewable Energy Sector organised by South Marmara Development Agency in cooperation with Çanakkale 18 Mart and Balikesir Universities.
This conference, which benefits from the support of the EU funded Renewable Youth Energy Project, addresses two key reforms initiated by the European Union, the implementation of the European Qualifications Framework and the European Green Deal.
Türkiye, with its young and dynamic population has the precious advantage of integrating into European societies, provided that vocational knowledge and workers’ skills are recognised within the European Qualifications Framework (or EQF).
This real translation tool of education systems is one of the most ambitious initiatives ever in the field of education and training in Europe. For the first time, Europe's diverse education and training systems share a common framework that helps improve transparency, comparability and portability of people’s qualifications and makes it possible to compare qualifications from different countries and institutions.
With such a framework, the EU aims to promote cross-border mobility of learners and workers and promote lifelong learning and professional development across Europe.
The Renewable Youth Energy Project includes institutional capacity building activities, renewable energy trainings and career oriented courses, study visits in EU Member States to observe best practices, workshops and conferences like today to further raise awareness.
This project also contributes to the European Green Deal’s overarching objective, to make the EU climate neutral by 2050. As you know, with its numerous policies, the European Green Deal aims to support the transformation of the EU into a fair and prosperous society with a modern and competitive economy. The Green Deal includes initiatives covering the climate, the environment, energy, transport, industry, agriculture and sustainable finance – all of which are strongly interlinked.
With this project, Renewable Energy Training, Testing and Certification Centres for the Wind, Solar and Biogas areas established in Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart and Balıkesir universities will be internationally certified. The certificates provided by these centres will be recognised by all the renewable energy companies in Türkiye and in the EU.
Dear colleagues and partners!
I would like to thank and congratulate Rectors of the Universities for establishing these centres and strong ownership of the Project.
I extend my thanks for great collaboration and collective action:
To the Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Security to the Secretary General of the South Marmara Development Agency
To the Directors of the GIZ, NGOs and representatives of the companies of the Renewable Energy Sector and experts of the project for a strong ownership and successful implementation of the project.
Supporting such project and investing in our youth’s education is the way forward. It is beneficial to all of us.
