A New Generation of Jean Monnet Scholars Ready to Goto the EU Universities
Following the completion of the assessment process for the 2019-2020 academic year written exam held on 23 March 2019, the list of successful candidates has been determined. The new generation consisting of 180 bright scholars who have been successful among more than 1,000 candidates, will start their studies in the EU Universities as from September 2019.
At the Information Seminar hosted by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Faruk Kaymakçı and the Deputy Head of the EU Delegation to Turkey, Gabriel MunueraVinals, new generation of Jean Monnet scholars learned about the final steps to follow before they start their scholarship programmes in the EU universities.
100% EU funded Jean Monnet Scholarship Programme, since 1990, has provided a significant opportunity for more than 2000 Turkish citizens. The programme has spearheaded a very significant human resources development in Turkey in the disciplines related to the EU Acquis.
On the occasion of the seminar, Ambassador Berger congratulated all the scholars and wished them success in their studies. He also shared his happiness about the programme having become one of the most successful tools for increasing multicultural interaction and cross border mobility and for sharing ideas and experiences. "All this will help eradicating stereotypes and contribute to the development of civil society dialogue between the EU and Turkey. Its positive impact on the people involved and on society is far beyond the expectations".
