Nurturing intercultural dialogue
While culture is the main way to enhance mutual understanding among people and institutions and to develop the concept of a common European citizenship, cultural prejudice may serve as an obstacle to dialogue and cooperation. In that respect, partnerships in the field of arts and culture not only serve to nurture cooperation and dialogue but also help to overcome possible cultural stereotypes. They also contribute to the EU’s policy of unity in diversity, in which Turkey’s rich cultural heritage deserves a major role.
The aims of the project and its core activities
The aim of this project was to establish a framework for cooperation between European and Turkish cultural partners, encourage sustainable intercultural dialogue, and enhance mutual understanding, tolerance and awareness between the EU and Turkey, using new opportunities for communication, exchange, networking and interaction.
Under the aegis of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, experts from museums in Turkey and the EU participated in exchange programmes, as did experts from the world of arts and culture.
Mutual museum exhibitions and arts and cultural events were supported, as were workshops on shared museum projects and the production of strategic documents on museum management.
Moreover, a number of networks in the field of culture were established.
