EU Continues Supporting The Agriculture Policy In Turkey
The launching event of the European Union funded project supporting the agriculture policy of Turkey and its alignment to EU legislation will take place on 15 January 2018 at Bilkent Hotel in Ankara. The event will be attended by the Deputy Minister of Food, Agriculture and Livestock Mr Mehmet Daniş, the Director of the Central Finance and Contracts Unit Mr Selim Uslu, Deputy Undersecretary of the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock Mr Hasan Özlü, Director General for EU and Foreign Affairs of the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock Directorate General Ms Esin Nacar, and the Deputy Head of EU Delegation to Turkey, Minister Counsellor Mr. Gabriel Munuera Vinals.
"Development of a Strategy for Alignment with Common Market Organisation (CMO) Requirements" aims at developing a strategy for gradual adoption of the EU legislation on Common Market Organisations (CMO) thus supporting Turkey's alignment to the EU legislation in agriculture. The Common Market Organisation (CMO) comprises a set of rules which regulate agricultural markets in the European Union. It builds on the rules for the common market in goods and services with specific policy tools that help improving the functioning of agricultural markets.
In order to achieve those objectives, existing administrative framework will be assessed, a strategy for the adoption of CMO legislation will be drafted, trainings on the principles of the system will be provided and awareness raising activities will be carried out among the main stakeholders.
"The project we are launching will contribute to Turkey's alignment with the EU's agricultural policy and will help establish conditions which will benefit trade in agricultural products" said the Head of EU Delegation, Ambassador Christian Berger, on this occasion.
The total budget of the project is 962,068 Euros, 721,551 Euros of which is financed by the European Union.
