The EU funded project in support of Research & Development of Turkish public and private organisations, industry and SMEs to maximise their benefits has ended with a closing event in Ankara on 29 November 2017. The President of TÜBITAK Prof. Dr. A. Arif ERGIN, Director of Central Finance and Contracting Unit Mr. Selim Uslu and Tsvetana Stoycheva, Programme Manager for the Delegation of the EU to Turkey discussed the impact of the project in the event.
Turkey in Horizon 2020 project with a budget of €2,75M, created an excellent opportunity to increase the participation of its SMEs, foster innovation and bring together researchers and entrepreneurs from the European Union and Turkey. The EU funded project offered workshops & training, consultancy services, legal and financial support for Horizon 2020 proposals through a helpdesk, evaluation services plus collaboration and communication tools for networking with the information multipliers.
3 brokerage events in Istanbul and Brussels are organized. Numerous training activities and thematic events such as project writing camps, general and introductory trainings, trainings on access to risk finance, intellectual property rights, legal and financial issues have been offered. Information Multiplier System in Turkey has also been strengthened by the addition of 25 new Information Multipliers through focused trainings and workshops.
Assessing the achievements of the project, the Head of the EU Delegation to Turkey, Ambassador Christian Berger, said on the occasion: I believe that the "Turkey in Horizon 2020" project has had a key role in supporting Turkish Researchers by raising the awareness and through other effective events dedicated to the Turkish Research Area. I expect that the second phase of the project that is already approved by the Commission will enhance Turkey's participation and raise the success rates in Horizon2020.
