Joint EU-Turkey Press Release: EU-Turkey Counter-Terrorism Consultations
The European Union and Turkey held Counter-Terrorism Consultations in Ankara on 28 November 2017. This meeting was organised as part of a regular dialogue process between the EU and Turkey.
Having underlined the fact that terrorism continues to pose a direct threat to our citizens and democracies, the EU and Turkey emphasised the importance of the need to step up the existing cooperation to counter the ever evolving threat of terrorism in an effective manner.
During these consultations, the EU and Turkey reiterated their strong will to enhance bilateral cooperation to combat terrorism that affects both the EU and its Member States, and Turkey.
Both sides agreed to explore ways of enhancing collaboration on information sharing, law enforcement and judicial cooperation, and countering financing of terrorism, among other subjects.
The EU and Turkey will continue to work together to contribute to counter terrorism efforts in international fora, such as the United Nations, Financial Action Task Force (FATF), the Global Counterterrorism Forum (GCTF) and the Global Coalition to Counter Da'esh.
