Summary of the Action

Overall objective

To strengthen the economic and social resilience of the population of host communities including Syrians under Temporary Protection (SuTP)

Specific objective(s)

The specific objectives are:

1. To increase the energy security in the refugee affected regions by promoting renewable energy generation.

2. To implement energy efficient measures in public educational facilities and to strengthen the capacity of MoNE for energy efficient management of selected facilities.

TR provinces with high concentration of refugees

Target groups

School aged Turkish and Syrian children and the population of host communities

Expected results

1. 10-15 MW Photovoltaic (PV) capacities are installed at one or more sites as unlicensed power generation facilities (solar farms).

2. 5-10 MW rooftop Photovoltaic (PV) capacities are installed on educational facilities.

3. Additional solar electricity generation capacity is allocated to multiple educational facilities on the consumer’s side.

4. Selected educational facilities are energy efficient rehabilitated.

5. MoNE’s personnel is aware of and trained for energy efficient management of selected rehabilitated educational facilities.

Main activities

1. Feasibility study and preliminary design.

2. Establishment of solar farms and rooftop PV systems.

3. Capacity building for the management of PV systems.

4. Improving the energy efficiency of selected educational facilities.

5. Training of MoNE staff members regarding energy efficiency measures.

6. Promoting energy efficiency campaigns.
