Summary of the Action

Overall objective

To provide assistance to migrants in Turkey and to improve Turkish migration management.

Specific objective(s)

To support Turkey in the management, reception and hosting of migrants, in particular irregular migrants detected in Turkey, as well as migrants returned from EU Member States territories to Turkey.

Turkey (Çankiri, Kirklareli, Izmir, Kayseri, Gaziantep, Erzurum)

Target groups

Irregular migrants, Syrian refugees and Turkish authorities in charge of migration management.

Expected results

1. Improved management, reception and hosting of migrants, especially those returned from EU Member States territories to Turkey and irregular migrants hosted in Turkey.

2. Ensure that the transportation in Turkey of irregular migrants and Syrian refugees are carried out as an organised operation, in an orderly and secure manner within dignified conditions.

3. Management, hosting and accommodation of irregular migrants in Turkey in appropriate conditions and adequate services.

4. Increased hosting capacity for irregular migrants by 750 persons.

5. Increased DGMM staff capacity on detection of fraudulent documents.

6. Expanding GÖÇ-NET with an irregular migration database.

7. Increased capacity of the service personnel.

Main activities

1. Establishment of new temporary removal centre.

2. Transfer of irregular migrants and Syrian refugees within Turkey.

3. Hosting and accommodation of irregular migrants in removal centres in appropriate conditions and adequate services (provision of basic health care services, psycho-social services, translation/interpretation services, food, hygiene and other facilities necessary for daily lives, security of facilities).

4. Increased capacity of DGMM on detection of fraudulent documents.

5. Support and expansion of irregular migration database.
