Synopsis: In Mexico’s Sea of Cortez, a group of dedicated scientists, high-tech activists, investigative journalists and courageous undercover agents attempt to rescue the most endangered and elusive whale on Earth while battling the vicious Mexican drug cartels and Chinese traffickers whose destructive poaching methods are threatening the region’s marine life.
Director’s bio: Richard Ladkani has gained international recognition for his award-winning feature documentaries. Ladkani gained most of his early experience in New York City, where he lived for more than six years before moving back to Europe. In early 2015 he and his wife founded Malaika Pictures to produce films that shine a spotlight on the environmental and political issues. Among his most renowned films are Escape Over the Himalayas, The Devil’s Miner, Jane’s Journey, Vatican: The Hidden World, Gas Monopolyand The Ivory Game (2016).
