Unimpeded Life Center in Adana

"Unimpeded Life Center in Adana" is a grant project financed by the HRD OP, under the grant scheme for "Improving Social Integration and the Employment of Disadvantaged Individuals".

Project has started in November 2016 and will end by end October 2017. Total grant amount allocated to the project is €234.331 (€199.181 being the EU contribution)

Project beneficiary is Adana Metropolitan Municipality. Project co-applicant is Young Disabled Youth and Sports Club. Öyküm Boutique Hotel is the project associate for tourism sector related activities.

Project aims to increase employability of persons with disabilities and women subjected to violence. Project provides the necessary vocational skills for people with visual, hearing and physical disabilities to be employed in tourism sector, and facilitates attendance of the parents of disabled children and women victims of domestic abuse to vocational education activities.

Target group include 40 visually impaired, 60 hearing impaired, 40 physically impaired , 30 women who are the victims of domestic violence or who are looking after their disabled children by themselves, and 30 women in poverty who are subjected to domestic violence.

Following trainings have so far been provided as part of the project, with varying durations of between 24 and 118 days.

 

- Basic Computer Training (for the physical handicapped individuals and for women who are victims of domestic violence),

-Housekeeping (for hearing impaired individuals and for women who are the victims of domestic violence and also who are looking after their disabled children by themselves),

- Cookery (for hearing impaired individuals and for women who are the victims of domestic violence and also who are looking after their disabled children by themselves),

- Servicing (for hearing impaired individuals and for women who are the victims of domestic violence and also who are looking after their disabled children by themselves),

- Swimming (for physically and hearing impaired individuals),

- Massaging (for visually disabled individuals).

 

Project also has an awareness raising component. With the help of 1 workshop, 1 seminar, 1 festival and 3 colloqiums the challenges disabled people have and suggestions for solutions have been discussed. Information events about available social services and for fighting prejudice against disabled people are included in the project.
