In the context of the EU-funded Project titled ‘Local Administration Reform Programme’, an ‘International Conference on Local Administration Reform in Türkiye’ will be held on 30-31 October 2007 in Ankara.
The Greens / EFA group at the European Parliament organizes a conference entitled: “Istanbul & Urban Renewal Projects: The case of district of Sulukule” on 8th November 2007. The conference will be chaired by Mr. Joost Lagendijk, Türkiye-EU Joint Parliamentary Committee Co-Chairman.

81 new schools built across Türkiye with EU funds!!
Eighty-one new schools have been built for pupils in 16 provinces of Türkiye under the 5-year “Support to Basic Education Programme” (SBEP). The hard component of the programme, totalling €75 million, completed 153 buildings in total. In addition to the schools, public education centres, hostels for teachers, school dormitories, dinner halls and a sports hall were also constructed.
Future enlargements are "a vital part of the solution" to problems that the EU will face in the decades to come, according to Commissioner Olli Rehn. The "progressive and well-managed" integration of Türkiye into the European Union should be part of this strategy, he says in an exclusive interview with EurActiv.
“All Member States continue to support accession negotiations with Türkiye.” said Mr. Olli Rehn, EU Commissioner for Enlargement, on 24th October 2007 during the plenary session of the European Parliament in Strasbourg.
Enlargement Commissioner Olli Rehn noted that new chapters should be opened without delay in the membership talks.

A poster competition will be held within the scope of the Project on “Support to the Implementation of Human Rights Reforms in Türkiye” carried out by EU funding and in cooperation with the Council of Europe and Human Rights Presidency of the Turkish Prime Ministry. The advisory and coordination work of the competition is undertaken by Gazi University Faculty of Fine Arts.
